Join us at the USC Institute of Armenian Studies as the Center’s 2017-2018 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Julien Zarifian (Professor of U.S. History and Civilization, University of Poitiers, France) returns to USC to discuss his book The United States and the Armenian Genocide: History, Memory, Politics. In the book, he explores why the U.S. delayed recognizing the Armenian Genocide until the 2020s. He delves into the geopolitical and institutional factors that led to a policy of non-recognition that endured for more than 50 years through both Republican and Democratic administrations.
